Our Team

Laura Miller | Owner

With a family tree deeply rooted in Italy, it’s not surprising that Laura Miller (née Montesi) is the sole owner and Jill of all trades for Delavignes Gourmet Foods and The Olive Oil Factory. Within the family business, she’s the operations manager, product developer, bookkeeper and the head chef in the Delavignes tasting kitchen.

Growing up in an Italian household in Roxbury, CT inspired Laura’s career in food. She also attended the agricultural program at Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, CT and furthered her education at the Oklahoma Horseshoeing School. Her agricultural and food passions run deep. Laura was the first certified female farrier in the state of Connecticut, as well as an avid equestrian. She practises animal husbandry and maintains a small-yet-boisterous farm at her Winsted home with her husband David. Laura believes in sustainable agriculture and food growing, fosters animals, makes her own cheeses, and is also a member of “GRITS,” which stands for Girls Really Into Shooting, a sport shotgun club for women.

While she may be the sole owner, Laura is also joined in the ranks at Delavignes by her husband David and her brother-in-law Michael. Together, they run all elements of the business operations along with a production team. When asked what was special about their family dynamic, Laura shares, “We don't allow our individual strengths and weaknesses to limit us, collectively as a family, we can support each other and turn those weaknesses into pathways to tackle challenges.” It’s how they grew it from a small olive oil production facility to a scalable gourmet and specialty food product and packaging business.

Their branded product lines now number over 100. Laura’s favorite is the Delavignes Lemon-Infused Olive Oil and when cooking, she favors the Garlic Infused Grapeseed Oil. She’s become an expert at the craft of olive oil and gourmet foods. When she joined the business in 2008, they had just the Olive Oil Factory brand and were primarily creating products for food service, airlines, and third party private labels. Under Laura’s guidance, their proprietary brands are thriving. Educating her consumers on how to taste, purchase and use quality olive oils is what she loves most about her work on a daily basis. You can find her in the Delavignes tasting kitchen regularly and she often hosts special tasting events where both her own recipes and the Delavignes products share the stage.
